The District Webmaster is responsible for the creation, management, and maintenance of the school district’s website and digital presence. This role ensures all web and digital content is accurate, accessible, and engaging. The Webmaster also creates original social media and video content that promotes the district’s values, communicates key information, and makes the district a welcoming, inclusive place that students, staff, and families want to join.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in web development, digital communications, public relations, multimedia production, or related field (preferred)
- Certifications in web design, ADA accessibility, video editing, or digital marketing (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Joomla)
- Knowledge of WCAG/ADA digital accessibility standards
- Experience with video creation tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, Canva, Animoto)
- Graphic design experience using tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities
- Knowledge of digital communication strategies and social media management
- Ability to work independently and develop creative, proactive solutions
- Familiarity with Texas public school compliance and communications standards
Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience managing websites, content, or multimedia communications
- Experience in an educational or public-facing environment (preferred)
- Experience producing short-form videos and managing social media accounts (preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Website Design and Development:
- Design, build, and maintain the district’s website and ensure consistency across campus and department pages
- Ensure intuitive navigation, functional layout, and mobile responsiveness
Content Management:
- Regularly update website with accurate, timely content from across the district
- Coordinate with schools and departments to ensure all postings meet quality and accessibility standards
- Manage required school board postings, campus content, and public-facing documents
Video Content Creation:
- Produce high-quality, engaging videos that showcase district events, initiatives, student and staff success stories, and community partnerships
- Create short, shareable videos that promote the district’s culture, values, and achievements
- Work with campuses to create welcoming and inclusive visual content that invites families and staff to be part of the district
- Integrate video content into both the website and social media channels to increase engagement
Social Media and Communication:
- Independently write and publish content across district social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, etc.)
- Promote a positive, welcoming image of the district through creative and inclusive storytelling
- Monitor and respond to comments/messages appropriately or escalate as needed
- Align messaging with district goals and proactively develop a digital content calendar
Technical Management:
- Maintain the website’s backend systems, hosting environments, and security protocols
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, working with IT staff or vendors as needed
Accessibility and Compliance:
- Ensure digital content meets ADA/WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards
- Post legally required public documents (e.g., board agendas, reports, election notices) in a timely manner
- Support public information requests by managing online availability of required documents
Training and Staff Support:
- Train campus and department staff on content management system use and digital best practices
- Provide support for creating accessible documents, images, and web content
Analytics and Optimization:
- Monitor website and social media metrics, analyze trends, and recommend improvements
- Provide data reports to district leaders and adjust content strategies to increase user engagement

- Mental Demands: Self-motivated, creative, and flexible; able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Physical Demands: Extended periods at a computer; occasional lifting of video/tech equipment (up to 25 lbs.); walking or standing for school events
- Work Environment: Office environment with occasional travel to campuses or off-site locations for coverage or filming
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with district policies and based on successful management of the district’s digital presence, engagement metrics, content quality, and compliance with legal posting requirements.
