Description

Primary Purpose

Provide districtwide leadership, coordination, and support for student behavioral programming and transition planning for students receiving special education services. Support campuses in implementing evidence-based behavior interventions, transition services, and compliance with federal and state special education requirements to improve student outcomes.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

  • Master’s degree
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
  • minimum 3 years classroom experience
  • Preferred but not required - Special Education Certification

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years experience working with students receiving special education services
  • Experience with special education paperwork such as IEPs, BIPs, accommodations, ARD paperwork
  • Experience providing staff training and coaching preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Behavior Supports

  • Assist campuses and LSSP in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
  • Provide coaching and technical assistance to teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators regarding behavior intervention strategies
  • Support implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports and evidence-based behavioral practices
  • Analyze behavioral data and assist teams in monitoring progress and adjusting interventions
  • Participate in ARD meetings when behavior programming or crisis supports are discussed

Transition Services

  • Coordinate transition planning for students ages 14+ to ensure compliance with IDEA transition requirements
  • Assist campuses with development of transition assessments, measurable postsecondary goals, and coordinated service plans
  • Support connections with community agencies, workforce programs, and adult service providers
  • Provide guidance on vocational programming, job coaching, and community-based instruction

Training and Collaboration

  • Attend and provide professional development for staff on behavior management, crisis prevention, and transition planning
  • Collaborate with campus administrators, counselors, evaluation staff, and related service providers

Compliance and Program Monitoring

  • Monitor documentation to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to behavior and transition
  • Assist with program reviews, audits, and corrective action activities
  • Maintain required records and reports as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Frequent campus visits across the district
  • Occasional lifting of instructional materials
  • May assist campuses during crisis intervention planning

Evaluation:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district policy and administrative guidelines.
