Job Title: Special Education ARD Facilitator
Reports to: Director of Special Education
Dept./School: Special Education
Primary Purpose:
Facilitate the special education ARD process including all paperwork and provide assistance to the campus special education staff and administration in the preparation and completion of the ARD committee process. To work collaboratively with instructional personnel to develop the most appropriate programs for students with disabilities.
- Finalize all paperwork and submit to appropriate sped office staff
- Develop yearly calendar and schedule ALL ARDs for assigned campuses. Update calendar regularly and notify appropriate staff of updates.
- Maintain STAAR list for all students on assigned campuses and provide information to campus testing coordinators as needed.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred with Teaching exprience
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of admission, review and dismissal process, education of special education students, human development, and learning theories
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Four years teaching experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Daily Duties
- Be a resource to the campus to assist the student assistance team, and the RtI process.
- Collect and organize relevant assessment data from student’s cumulative folder, classroom teachers(s), principal, support staff, parents, and outside resource people.
- Mentor and assist special education teachers, including conducting classroom observation.
- Participate and facilitate the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assure, appropriate placement, and development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students according to district procedures.
- Accumulate and organize required documentation and data prior to the ARD meeting.
- Complete and process the ARDC paperwork and documents.
Consultation
- Provide staff development training in assigned schools to assist school personnel in identification and understanding of students with disabilities.
- Assist classroom teachers with implementation of IEP, and instructional strategies to be used with students with disabilities.
- Consult parents concerning the educational needs of student.
- Consult parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals to enhance their work with students with disabilities.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Regular districtwide travel to multiple work locations as assigned; moderate lifting and carrying. May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities.
